Auckland Council will be facing off against Occupy Auckland protesters in court again today.

Eight protesters are accused of contempt of court after allegedly camping at Aotea Square since a district court order was issued in December barring them from doing so.

The council is seeking fresh orders to remove the remaining campers from Aotea Square.

Occupy Auckland member Chris Glen says the Auckland Council wants to send them to jail.

He said it was very important protesters' rights under the Bill of Rights were protected by the court system.

Glen said his actions were not in contempt of court - he was exercising his own personal right to freedom of expression.
