Cleaning up in Aitutaki after Cyclone Pat - Source: ONE News
The Defence Force's mission to the cyclone-ravaged Cook Islands is coming to an end.
Aitutaki was heavily damaged by Cyclone Pat when it hit over two weeks ago.
Sixty-eight houses were totally destroyed and 90% of all houses had some form of wind damage.
Defence Force Squadron leader Kavae Tamariki says it was good to get over there and get on the ground.
He says its Hercules was used to do four flights to Aitutaki and provide about 89 thousand kilograms of aid.
Tamariki says engineers have been doing a fantastic job assisting the locals to get the infrastructure back on line.
