Police say someone will know the whereabouts of a teenager reported missing from Rotorua 10 days ago.

Finesse Broughton, 14, was last seen leaving her home in the suburb of Mangakakahi, west of the city centre, about 7am on March 3.

Detective Sergeant John Wilson on Saturday said the main cause of concern was that Finesse had a serious, long-term medical condition.

"As long as she has her medication, she should be okay, but of course it's not going to last forever."

Wilson said he understood it wasn't the first time Finesse had gone missing and she was believed to be in the Bay of Plenty or Auckland area.

"We are trying to get someone to tell us where she is," he said.

"Someone knows where she is."

Finesse was described as Maori, of small build and 1.5m tall, with dark brown shoulder-length hair which was normally worn pulled back.
