The government has set the timeframe for the Royal Commision of Inquiry into the Pike River tragedy.
The commission has been told it can report back no later than March 2012.
The government has also appointed two more commissioners to the inquiry.
Former electoral commission boss David Henry and Australian mining safety expert Stewart Bell will join Justice Graham Panckhurst on the Royal Commission.
The appointments follow the news today that Pike River Coal has asked to be put into receivership following the explosion which killed 29 men.
John Fisk, David Bridgman and Malcolm Hollis, partners from PricewaterhouseCoopers, have been appointed receivers. Fisk said they would co-operate with the various inquiries being conducted.
