Once again AUT's Rookie show has provided another batch of ones-to-watch.
This year's show was held in Auckland's Shed Ten, hosting an impressive turn out of fashionistas, both established and new to the scene.
Twenty four of the institution's final year students took to the catwalk.
That's a logistical feat in itself considering every student had at least four models - which equates to a headache for set designers, DJs and photographers alike.
Still, organisers made it work, and the show was seamless.
As with every Rookie show, this year had its standouts.
Vihanga Mahesh Sontam with her Indian inspired collection combining colour with an expert hand in wool to create a fresh, ethnic look.
Emma Gleason is another one to watch, again using colour and free flowing garments (the raincoats would definitely be in my wardrobe next season) with a new eye.
Troy Garton was another whose models took the audience's collective breath away.
His was the only truly feminine collection - with a clear hark back to the 1940s - albeit in an extravagant way. Huge hoop skirts adorning top-fitting cocktail dresses, all in eye catching colour.
Up next was Anna Findlay, who again took a theme but used it in a distinctly new and creative way. Leather, studs, wools and mesh came together in a dark concotion, but with aesthetically pleasing results.
The detail was exquisite, and her technique clearly refined.
Amongst these were, of course, the forgettable - designers you couldn't help but feel had opened any this season's catalogue, and changed a few things to create a slightly different version of what's already on offer.
Hoodies were aplenty, the 90s were yet again in fashion, and formless shifts in muted palates were once again on offer.
Still, the Rookie show kept my attention (all 45 minutes of it!), and left me excited for what New Zealand fashion is about to be hit with.
