Christchurch youth believe a small minority of boy racers are ruining it for others.

A forum for teens was held in the city on Saturday to discuss the government's proposed boy racer bill. The new law would give police powers to crush cars of offenders and crack down on cruising by boy racers.

Organiser Anthony Rohan says just a few disrespectful youth cause problems for authorities and residents. He says if hundreds of people turn out to a boy racer rally and there is no illegal activity, then there are really no issues.

The teens want boy racers who break the law taken off the roads in Christchurch. Rohan says the new law won't work and will just cause problems for police.

He says a large group people will be punished for the actions of a few who have illegally modified cars.

Rohan says while some might find the idea of driving around in cars boring, others find golf boring.
