Child dies in accident at Motueka school

A young child has died in an accident with logs at Motueka High School.

Police say the five-year-old boy was apparently playing at the grounds near some trees that had been cut down.  St John said logs had fallen onto the boy.

St John sent two ambulances and the Summit Rescue Helicopter was also sent to the scene.

St John said the boy died at the scene and no one was taken to hospital.
