Chch man stable after stabbing

A man is in a stable condition in hospital after a stabbing incident in Christchurch overnight.

Police say there was an incident at a Gloucester Street address.

A 28-year-old man is due in court on Wednesday morning charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It is understood hospital staff contacted police after the 24-year old victim arrived at the Emergency Department at about midnight with his injuries.

Police are conducting a scene examination at the property in question.
