A Christchurch couple have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary in style.
Five generations of the Allen family ensured that Noel and Win's 70th wedding anniversay was a day to remember.
Seventy years ago it was the Wainoni Methodist Church that brought the couple together.
"(Win) was in the choir in the church," Noel says.
And the secret to their lengthy union?
"When you're married you don't walk away, you've got to have discipline," Noel says.
Daughter Marguerite Thomson says she cannot remember her parents ever having an argument.
Noel agrees.
"We've had disputes but we've managed to iron them out. It's good to have a garage to go to occasionally," he says.
The Allens say the most important things in their life are their health and family.
"Paradise is not where you are but who you're with," Noel says.
