Caught on film: Freak storm hits Interislander ferry

A freak storm hit Wellington on Friday evening, with winds reaching almost 150 kilometres per hour.

The storm came suddenly, with temperatures dropping 11 degrees in half an hour when the gale force southerlies and rain ripped through.

Caught up in the wild weather were passengers on board the Interislander Cook Strait ferry, one passenger captured dramatic footage of the moment the storm hit.
