New Zealand Bus services in Auckland remain suspended, as the stand-off between drivers and their employer continues.
The dispute which has been dragging on for months has seen the company's services off the road since Thursday.
The company and four unions representing bus drivers were still in facilitation, but little progress had been reported.
The impact of the company's decision to lock out its drivers has intensified this week with the beginning of the fourth school term.
Some parents set up car pools, some students walked and were late while others simply didn't go to school.
An offer by the drivers to drive pupils for no pay was rejected by the company as "at best misguided and is at worst mischievous".
The bus services affected are Metrolink, North Star, GO WEST, Waka Pacific, Link and City Circuit.
On Tuesday, Regional Council chairman Mike Lee stepped up the pressure on NZ Bus, telling them to either allow drivers to go back to work, or get out of town.
"Like any commercial contract, NZ Bus contracts can be terminated for non-performance," Lee says.
"If this dispute is not settled, I will be calling on Arta to start the process of terminating the existing contracts and finding someone else who will deliver the services that Auckland expects and pays for."
The bus stoppage is affecting around 80,000 commuters and 10,000 school students.
