Bus passenger impaled near Rotorua

A bus passenger has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital after being impaled through his stomach in a crash near Rotorua this afternoon.

The man was injured in a crash between a twenty-seater bus and a car in the Fitzgerald Glade area, shortly after midday.

Four other bus passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Northern Ambulance Communications shift manager, Brett Tobeck says the injury could have been far worse.
