Bus fire on Auckland motorway

Published: 8:19AM Monday April 16, 2012 Source: ONE News / Newstalk ZB

People using Auckland's north western motorway can expect delays after a bus fire this morning.

The Go West bus went up in flames just before 8am.

It was well ablaze on the westbound shoulder of the motorway near the St Lukes ramp when fire crews arrived.

Story continues below...

Fire Service shift manager Steve Smith says a lot of members of the public called in about the fire.

He said he believed it actually blocked the motorway at one stage.

One lane is closed as oil and water have spilled from the bus.

One fire engine remains at the scene dampening down.

No one was injured in the fire.
