Concern is intensifying over the amount of cash being paid to the head of the Destiny Church.

It has emerged church leader Brian Tamaki claims a speaking fee each time he preaches at a Destiny Church outside Auckland.

The fee can be up to $12,000 a pop - and that's on top of his base salary.

The Herald says the fees would average roughly $3,000 a week, or $150,000 a year, and are paid by all Destiny Churches here and across the Tasman.

It is understood the fees boost Bishop Tamaki's yearly income past the million dollar mark.

Upset about growing demands for cash contributions have been behind the departure of some pastors, and rank and file Destiny members in the past few weeks.
