A man allegedly involved in last week's attempted bank robbery and bomb threat in Wellington has been caught in Australia.
Police released CCTV footage of the 34-year-old on Wednesday to the public in an effort to track him down.
Through this they learned the man had left New Zealand for Sydney on Wednesday morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Borrell says they worked quickly with Australian police and the man was arrested on arrival at Sydney Airport.
He says they are now in the process of seeking extradition so the man can face charges in Wellington.
"We are extremely grateful for the assistance from the public in identifying this man and also from the assistance provided by the Australian Federal Police for their help in his subsequent apprehension," Borrell says.
