Body found at Lake Taupo lakefront

The body of a middle-aged man has been found at the Taupo lakefront, police say.

The 52-year-old man from Palmerston North collapsed and died suddenly while holidaying in Taupo with his family.

The man was in the water at the main lakefront beach of Lake Taupo at approximately 2.00pm when he collapsed. Attempts to resuscitate him on land were unsuccessful.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.
