Wellington police remove a body floating near Miramar Wharf - Source: ONE News

A body of a middle aged man has been pulled from the water close to Miramar Wharf in Wellington's eastern suburbs.

The body was spotted by a passerby at Evans Bay.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the scene about 10.30am.

A team of police divers have been scouring the seabed for clues.

Although an inquiry was underway, the death did not appear to be suspicious, she said.
