A woman's body with a bicycle nearby were found in a creek at a Hamilton park on Sunday morning.

Senior Sergeant Murray Stapp from Hamilton police says the woman appeared to be in her early-30s.

Members of the public found the body in a creek at Edgecumbe Park, in the suburb of Whitiora, about 11.35am.

A bicycle was also found in the water nearby.

An initial investigation indicated the cyclist had lost control going down a steep bank before hitting a tree and landing in a creek.

Police have not yet been able to identify who she is.

The cause of death would not be known until the pathologist had completed their examination.

Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
