A boar hunting Taranaki bride-to-be has won a nationwide radio competition searching for New Zealand's best outdoor partner.
Jenna Curtis has won the crown of Rock Wife 2012, after her partner Donald Moratti sent in a picture of her with a dead boar slung over her shoulders.
The Rock said that Curtis received 23% of the total votes from the public and "represents the rugged, wild chick that every red blooded Kiwi male dreams of".
The radio station said she proved girls can get "down and dirty with nature and still look bloody good doing it".
Curtis posted on her Facebook page: "OMG thanks sooo much to
everyone that voted for me!! I appreciate it more than ull ever
know! I feel soo special having such great family and friends who
all supportted me!! Your all just awesome!! xxxx YAY!!!"
Curtis told Fairfax her motivation for entering the competition was to get money for the wedding. Curtis and Moratti received $5000 for winning.
"And I wanted to show the other girls you don't to have pose in a bikini to win this sort of thing," she said.
The win follows controversy that erupted after a photo of Taranaki bride Katrina Hayman drinking a beer at the Taranaki Bride of the Year competition was published in the Taranaki Daily News last month.
Organisers called for an apology and online commentators slammed the photo as "disgusting".
