It's an internet sensation, it's all over facebook, given rise to music re-mixes, a t-shirt and even a South Park style homage.
The video of the police officer giving some unusual advice to an offender on TVNZ show Police 10-7 seems sure to cement itself in New Zealand's pop culture history.
Sergeant Guy Baldwin of Auckland's police dog unit has been left bemused by his sudden fame and admits that his colleagues are giving him some stick over the clip in which he advises a member of the public, supposedly on his way to buy a service station snack, that he "must always blow on the pie".
Baldwin told TVNZ's Breakfast that the advice was meant to be a joke.
"I was speaking to a chap we had been looking for... I was making up conversation, using a bit of humour. Unfortunately, he didnt get it." says Baldwin.
Fortunately for Baldwin plenty of people are seeing the joke with the clip being viewed by thousands online and the "blow on the pie" line looking set to become a part of every Kiwi's vocabulary.
Baldwin remains modest about his new-found fame and sceptical
about its longevity. He says that, while a few people may be
wearing the novelty t-shirt his advice has spawned to the beach
this year, most will be wearing it to decorate their houses next
year.
