A man who stole a bike and was chased by its pyjama-clad owners on Saturday morning had earlier allegedly robbed a PostShop and got away with cash.
Police say the man fled after stealing the bike from an Otley Avenue address in central Christchurch on Saturday morning.
The owners, a couple, still in their pyjamas gave chase but gave up after a while.
Police say a man had held up the Victoria Street Village PostShop, 10 minutes earlier, with a handgun and left with a sum of money in a stolen car.
The car was abandoned on one of the small streets running east off Madras St and the man ran across several properties. He changed his clothes in Otley Avenue and took the bike.
The couple say they found a bag of men's clothes in their shed.
Police say the cyclist was caught on Bealey Ave and the cash and an imitation gun were recovered.
A 27-year-old man was due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday charged with aggravated robbery, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, unlawfully carrying an imitation firearm, and theft of a push-bike.
