Police have appealed to the public for help in catching a robber who escaped with a substantial amount of cash from a Napier bank on Wednesday.
The man threatened to shoot the teller at the ANZ bank in suburban Marewa if he was not given cash.
Detective Jeff Foley of Napier police says the teller had been "understandably shaken" and the bank was organising counselling for all staff.
Police had been speaking to witnesses and study a security tape of the robber entering the bank, he told NZPA on Thursday afternoon.
Police have not yet identified the robber, but are hoping to put together an Identikit image for release tomorrow.
The man was described as Maori, in his early 20s, average height and build with a goatee beard. He was wearing a dark hoodie, black track pants with red stripe, a white cap and sunglasses.
Police said they wanted want to hear from anyone with information.
