Around 12,000 parents from at-risk families will be sent back to school in an effort to learn how to turn their children's lives around.

The government plans to spend $45 million on courses designed to help parents whose children are disruptive in the classroom, get them under control.

At-risk parents will be identified by the Ministry of Social Development but they won't be forced to attend programmes.

Some of the money will also be spent on training teachers to deal with bad behaviour.
