An Auckland college which was criticised in a damning NZQA report has been shut down.
ONE News investigated Ivy College last month after 17 business management students had their qualifications withheld while the college was under investigation.
The school, which has a roll of around 200 international
students, failed every one of its accreditation requirements.
ONE News received a copy of NZQA's most recent review of Ivy
College. It rated 'poor' in nine out of ten areas of
performance.
NZQA concluded it was not confident in the college's educational performance or self-assessment.
Director of Studies at Ivy College Salil Chada told ONE News last month he thought improvements could be made.
"We need to get more resources. We need to get more staff."
But he was not accepting any fault.
"I'm not the owner of the school, I've not been responsible for what's happened to these students. I feel sorry for them. I do feel sorry for them."
NZQA Deputy Chief Executive of Quality Assurance Tim Fowler said teams were on site today working with students.
"Their primary role is to ensure a smooth transfer of students and the balance of their tuition fees to alternate providers," Fowler said.
"NZQA and the other agencies will work with students over coming days to finalise arrangements, the students remain our first priority."
NZQA said it was confident the majority of private training establishments were "operating effectively".
