Police hunt pair after attempted rape

Police are looking for two Maori males, aged between 18 and 20, in connection with the attempted rape of a woman near a Lower Hutt railway station on Friday morning.

The attack happened as the woman was about to enter a subway leading to Pomare station on Eastern Hutt Road around 7am.

Police closed down the station to the public until 7.45am.

The investigation is at an early stage and the woman is being interviewed, Detective Sergeant Dean Simpson says.

One witness has been spoken to and police are appealing for any others to come forward, he says.
