Two people have been arrested in Canterbury this afternoon after two police officers were allegedly attacked.
Senior Sergeant Stew Munro said a female officer initially attended a callout related to tenancy issues at a Rolleston address, just before midday today.
"The constable reported that the people involved in the incident were acting erratically and aggressively, so she called for backup," Munro said.
"After a second officer arrived, he was attacked by the man.
"The officers were also attacked by a dog, and the female constable has suffered puncture wounds and bruising to her legs."
Munro said the female office received treatment at hospital this afternoon.
"Fortunately her injuries were not serious," he said.
A 28-year-old Rolleston man has been charged with assault and resisting arrest following the alleged attack.
And a 24-year-old Christchurch woman has been charged with obstruction
The pair will appear in the Christchurch District Court next week.
