Arrest made following Dunedin stabbing

  • Woman stabbed in Dunedin home invasion

Police have arrested a 21 year-old man in relation to an attack on a woman at her Dunedin home.

The woman suffered serious facial injuries, including stab wounds to her neck, after opening the door of her Duncan Street home to a man yesterday morning.

Police said the man faced a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Dunedin District Court today.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hooper said further serious charges were likely, but they were not seeking anyone else in relation to the attack.

The woman is recovering from surgery at Dunedin Hospital.

Police have yet to speak with the victim.
