Armed robbery at McDonald's in Auckland

Police are reviewing security footage after an armed robbery at a McDonald's restaurant in Auckland this morning.

Police said at about 1.50am a masked man with a long barrelled firearm entered the store on Great North Road, Grey Lynn and demanded money from the safe.

The offender ran off from the store with several hundred dollars, leaving a trail of cash.

A staff member suffered minor injuries after being stuck by the robber.

Further details will be released by the Auckland police later today.
