Another inmate stabbed in Hawke's Bay prison

An 18-year-old prisoner was stabbed in the throat by a fellow inmate in Hawke's Bay Prison near Hastings on Tuesday, the second stabbing at the prison in five days.

The stabbing was reported to police shortly after midday. Police are interviewing staff and prisoners a nd are carrying out a scene investigation.

Last Thursday, a 33-year-old man was stabbed in the chest by another inmate.

No charges had yet been laid in either investigation and it was too early to say if the attacks were connected, police said
