Aisling Symes' family have spoken of their grief at her death.
The toddler's body was found in a storm water drain in Henderson on Monday night, a week after she went missing. Police say the results of a post mortem examination on Aisling are consistent with drowning.
Her uncle, David Ball, and her father's cousin, Wymond Symes, have fronted at a press conference to express the family's sorrow.
Wymond Symes read from a statement to say that Aisling's parents, Angela and Alan, wished to thank the many people who have supported them "throughout a traumatic week".
"No words can describe Angela and Alan's pain and anguish. This has been a traumatic ordeal for us all."
Symes also said the family wished to thank the police for their support.
"The police have gone to extraordinary lengths to do everything possible to find Aisling and to help support us," he said.
"Police have been resolute in their efforts to find Aisling. They have been professional, and the humility they have shown to us has really touched our family."
Ball said the family would also like to thank the wider community for the messages and tributes that continue to flow for Aisling.
"The compassion and support given to us highlights our faith in humanity," Ball said.
"The loss of Aisling is unbearble, however we have some sense of resolution in that Aisling has been found.
"It's hard to imagine life without her infectious smiles and bubbly nature."
Funeral arrangements for Aisling have not yet been decided.
