The thunder of hooves and click of high heels is getting louder as Christchurch gets ready for harness racing's biggest day.
Cup and Show Week has begun, with the main act on Tuesday at Addington, but it is not all about the horses.
Addington Raceway Chief Executive Shane Gloury's three phones have been ringing non-stop all day.
"Preparations are going really well, but like all cup days, the last day, the last probably 48, 72 hours leading into it is very hectic and very busy," he says.
Making sure the track is in perfect condition is just one of the things on his very long list, along with getting the champagne into the chiller, and the tickets in the right hands.
Away from the track, the fashion co-ordinator is busy at work, too.
"The judges are looking for style, they're looking for an overall polished, finished look and they're looking for that ultimate race-wear attire," says Angela Stone.
Cup Week fashion is now not only for the ladies. Retailers have found a huge increase in men getting fitted.
Organisers are happy with the work that has gone into the event, ensuring the 25,000 people that pack out the stands will be in for a great day.
