At 7:35pm on the November 3, 1969, the very first network news bulletin was broadcast in New Zealand. It was presented by Dougal Stevenson

Television news arrived in New Zealand in 1960, but it was a regional operation, with local stations based in the four main centres. Then a series of microwave links was set up and the NZBC Network News was born.

Unfortunately that first broadcast no longer exists BUT check out some of the great content we have pulled from the archive from the early days of network news.
