An online auction offering the chance to implode Radio Network House in Christchurch has been won with a bid of $26,000.

Bidding for the right to initiate the implosion of the earthquake-damaged building went live on Trade Me on July 24, starting with a $1 reserve.

Contenders had until 6.05pm tonight to place their final bids.

A bidder with the username Demo Man 3 won, pledging $26,000 for the right to push the button that will detonate the explosives and bring the building down.

*The implosion will be live streamed on onenews.co.nz at at 8am on August 5.

Naylor Love and Ceres New Zealand, who are responsible for the demolition, say that funds raised by the auction will go towards the restoration of the Isaac Theatre Royal in Gloucester St, central Christchurch.

According to the Trade Me website, the Government will also match every dollar raised by the auction, with the money raised going towards similar restoration projects.

Radio Network House is scheduled to come down at 8am on Sunday.
