Quick chat with host Tony
What do you enjoy most about being a landscape designer? Seeing how happy people are when you present them with a new garden. It's great!
Best moment on the show so far? There are so many fantastic moments that there isnt just one that stands out, too many to choose from.
Can you describe any current fashions / trends in landscape design? To be honest I dont follow fashions/trends I look at how the garden will be used and maintained, and what suits the owner best this way it will be sure to last a lifetime.
Do you have an all time favourite plant that would fit into most NZ gardens? The Puka because it provides shelter, love the big leaves and it compliments different styles of gardens be it formal or tropical.
Do you have any advice for any other young budding designers? Garden designers need to have a strong appreciation and good knowledge of plants, and never be afraid to ask for help. Learn more about plants to help you choose wisely so you know what theyre going to do the space and surrounding plants in years to come. Also, think about using plants with colour - they can make people feel happy, and create a wonderful ambience. It's a great job if you choose it!
