Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

This extremely watchable and energetic British gangster comedy has many pleasures on offer, but the endless stream of painful wannabes it inspired almost makes you wish it had never been made.

Jason Statham (The Transporter, The Italian Job), Jason Flemying (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Deep Rising), Dexter Fletcher (The Rachel Papers, Band of Brothers) and Nick Moran (absolutely nothing of note) play four friends who get heavily indebted to some ruthless gangsters, and plot to rip off the thieves next door to get the money to pay them back.

Former soccer star Vinnie Jones gives a star making performance as a ruthless enforcer and Sting (whose wife is credited as an executive producer) also appears.

Director Guy Ritchie later made a follow-up (Snatch), that while very watchable itself, failed to inject anything new and unfortunately sits alongside side the thousands of other inferior Lock Stock clones.
