I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

Jennifer Love Hewitt returns to face the murderous hook handed fisherman once more in this schlocky but enjoyable horror sequel.

Julie James (Hewitt) is now at college, but remains tormented by the events following what her and her now dead friends did what surely must be several summers ago now.

But she is given a boost when her best friend Karla (pop star Brandy) wins a trip to a holiday resort in the Bahamas. Karla's boyfriend Tyrell (Mekhi Phifer - ER) accompanies them, along with classmate Will (Matthew Settle) after Julie's semi-estranged boyfriend Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr) doesn't show up. Suspiciously.

Upon arrival at the resort, the foursome realise it is the off-season, there's only skeleton staff and something weird is going on. Kiss. Kill. Blood. Surprise revalation. You know that drill by now. It's all very watchable though. If you liked the first one.

I Know What You Did Last Summer was one of the more enjoyable of the multitude of teens-in-peril horror films to come out following the success of Scream.

It's probably the only one that can claim to have not simply jumped on the bandwagon, as it was well into production by the time Scream was released. But it was very much marketed as being in the same vein, a strategy helped by the fact that it had the same screenwriter - Kevin Williamson.

In fact, a lawsuit resulted from the poster's claim that I Know What You Did Last Summer was from "the creator of Scream", because the powers that be deemed the Scream director Wes Craven, not writer Williamson, was the true creator. It all seems so trivial looking back. Sigh.
