New Zealand are hoping a new engine for Black Beauty will help turn around their sagging fortunes at this weekend's A1GP in England.
After a fast start to the season with podium finishes in both races in the first round, Black Beauty has endured a rocky ride.
The team, who scored no points at the last round in Portugal, are also hoping consistent driver selection will also help take their car to the front of the pack.
Wanganui teenager Earl Bamber has been picked to drive for the third straight round. The team's other driver, Chris van der Drift is unavailable as he will be in Belgium for the second round of the 2009 World Series by Renault.
"The last round in Portugal was positive for the team despite the lack of results when we compare our pace with what we had in South Africa," Bamber said.
"For the first time this season we had speed that meant we could run with the front nations. It will be interesting to see how the new engine goes."
Bamber has not driven on the Brands Hatch circuit but has gained an idea of the layout of the challenging circuit, located in Kent, south east of London from time spent driving the A1GP simulator last week.
" It looks like it's a circuit where it's really important to find a good rhythm to be quick."
New Zealand are currently seventh in the championship points standings with 36 points, seven points shy of Malaysia.
