Reigning champion Scott Dixon will start from fourth spot on the grid in Monday's Indy Car race in Kansas.

New Zealander Dixon will be on the second row with Danica Patrick after earning his 18th straight top-ten start.

American Graham Rahal will start on pole - his second in three races at the Kansas Speedway - and will be joined at the front by teammate Robert Doornbos.

Patrick is set to start from third after officials penalised Helio Castroneve, who had the third-fastest speed, for dipping below the white line.

The Brazilian will now start from the back.

Dixon's teammate Dario Franchitti was also relegated to the back of the field after he was penalised for the same thing.

Dixon's former teammate Dan Wheldon qualified ninth in his attempt to win at Kansas for an IRL-record third consecutive year.
