Dixon off to a roaring start

New Zealand driver Scott Dixon led the first day of IndyCar testing at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama on Monday.

The 2008 Indycar champion clocked the top lap of one minute, 10.50 seconds on the 15-turn, 3.7km circuit .

Robert Doornbos, who will compete in the series for the first time this year, was second with 1min 10.63sec, with Tony Kanaan third in 1min 10.66sec.

Former series and Indy champ Dario Franchitti finished the day fourth quickest.

The test, the last before the season begins April 5 in St. Petersburg, Florida concludes later on Tuesday.
