Jenson Button said he wanted to stay loyal to the Brawn team which saved him from the Formula One scrapheap and propelled him to the world title.

The Briton has yet to sign a contract with Brawn for next season but said he would not be asking silly money to stay on and defend the crown he claimed in the season's penultimate race in Brazil on Monday.

"I'm not that expensive compared to some drivers," Button, who took a hefty pay cut and paid for his own travel on budget airlines this season, told reporters on Wednesday after arriving home on team mate Rubens Barrichello's private jet.

"For me the most important thing in my career was to be in a great car, a competitive car and this year was the first time I have really been in that position.

"I want to continue achieving in the sport. I'm not one of those drivers that wants to find a new team that will pay more money, that's not what I'm about.

"I want to win races again. I want to be with Brawn but we just haven't discussed (a new contract) yet. We were just concentrating on getting the titles wrapped up, but now we can sit down and discuss it a bit more."

Strong position

The 29-year-old, Britain's 10th world champion, will be in a strong negotiating position when he sits down with team boss Ross Brawn to discuss his future.

He said he "would be putting on a bit of pressure" but he knows he is indebted to the team which rose from the ashes of Honda last year after the Japanese carmaker pulled out of the sport.

"I've experienced so much with this team and before it was Brawn," he said

"I joined in 2003 and a lot has changed since then. We have been through some fantastic times and a lot of very difficult times and now we have achieved our first goal which was the world championship.

"I'm going to enjoy this for a few days but then we will start talks about next season. You always want more. Winning the championship is a great feeling but after that life goes on and you want to achieve greater things. That will be the aim and that's why I would like to be with Brawn next year."

Button said he had to give up certain luxuries normally associated with Formula One drivers as the fledgling Brawn team found its feet.

"As you know I paid for pretty much all my travel but we all give up certain things when times get tough and to be fair when you get the chance to drive a car like I'm driving you'll give up pretty much everything."
