Q&A
Favourite ingredient and why?
Butter. It makes everything (or almost everything!) taste so much
better.
What's your favourite meal of the day - breakfast, lunch
or dinner?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner! I love all meals. I love food in
general and eat at least these three meals per day.
What dish would be the way to your heart?
Freshly shucked oysters with a squeeze of lemon. Delicious but
romantic too.
What are your favourite tunes to cook to?
Jazz - Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé and Norah
Jones.
What do you think you'll learn from being on
MasterChef?
New cooking skills, techniques and dishes which will assist me in
reaching my food dream. I will learn about myself too - what my
strengths and weaknesses are.
Which judge makes you the most nervous?
Matt Preston. He has the most renowned and refined palate in the
world and has the ability to make or break a restaurant and its
food.
Tell us about how you got into cooking and how old were
you?
I have always loved food and cooking was a natural progression of
that. I remember receiving a kid's cookbook for a birthday present
when I was about seven. I remember making cupcakes each weekend
from the recipe in this book.
What's the first meal you remember cooking and was it a
success or a disaster?
My best friend and I put on a three course dinner for our mothers
for Mother's Day when we were about 11. We planned and wrote the
menu, did the shopping, the preparation, cooking and service.
Donned the black and white service attire too. It was an amazing
success.
What three ingredients would you take with you to a
desert island and what would you cook with them?
Chocolate - for a sweet treat. Bread and cheese. I can never eat
too much of a beautiful crusty loaf of bread and some
cheese.
If you were having any three people, alive or dead, over
for dinner, who would they be and what would you cook for
them?
My husband Nick as he is a fantastic dinner guest and is the love
of my life. Robin Williams to bring some laughter to the table and
Barack Obama for his views on the world as it is today. I would
cook beautiful fresh dishes with robust flavours and have matching
wines.
What inspired you to go on MasterChef?
My passion for food and the food industry. I am motivated and
driven to achieve my goals. I want a future within the industry and
MasterChef is the perfect stepping stone to achieving this goal. I
would also like to increase my skill, knowledge and recipe
base.
