Q&A
Favourite ingredient and why?
Coriander. It gives freshness and a light herb flavour - it
refreshes dishes.
What's your favourite meal of the day - breakfast, lunch or
dinner?
Dinner because depending on the weather you can have a hot or cold
meal. Romance by candlelight; dress up to go to a beautiful
restaurant; having a BBQ with friends and family, and normally
there is more time to converse during dinner which is
important.
What dish would be the way to your heart?
A good rice dish like special fried rice and a satay sauce which
makes you want to lick the bowl.
What are your favourite tunes to cook to?
It really depends what mood I'm in. My taste in music varies
greatly. I love the Beatles, Dolly Parton and UB40. But how can you
go past some fast tunes with some Spanish influence or jive. I love
it when Mum and I are cooking together and we break out in a little
twist or cumbia (argentine style dancing)
What do you think you'll learn from being on
MasterChef?
I'll learn about my strengths in both cookery and in my personal
mindset. It's tough mentally and you have to prepare yourself for
the roller coaster ride.
Which judge makes you the most nervous?
George as he gives these looks which can be a little intimidating,
but he has a caring side too.
Tell us about how you got into cooking and how old were
you?
My childhood, making fairy bread and vegemite sandwiches and
cinnamon scrolls with my sister Rachel.
What's the first meal you remember cooking and was it a
success or a disaster?
I don't remember my first meal but I do remember making scones with
my mum and being amazed how high they would grow in the
oven.
What three ingredients would you take with you to a desert
island and what would you cook with them?
Well it depends how long I would be there! Coriander, which I would
replant so it would grow more and I would have more supply. Coconut
milk. Chocolate because I'd need to have some comfort food while
feeling depressed as I'm stuck on a desert island! I'd make
chocolate coconut milk for breakfast instead of a Milo and to give
me energy I'd catch fish and serve it with coriander.
If you were having any three people, alive or dead, over
for dinner, who would they be and what would you cook for
them?
Jesus. My grandparents - I've never met any of them so I'd say all
four together. I can't play by the rules for this question.
What inspired you to go on MasterChef?
My friend Stacee was telling me about how she was thinking about
applying and I thought "hey that's it, I should be applying and see
what happens!" Food, eating, talking, learning&that's me!
