Q&A

Favourite ingredient and why?
Chilli - more than a flavour, it's a sensation.

What's your favourite meal of the day - breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Any meal I don't have to eat at my desk.

What dish would be the way to your heart?
A well cooked steak and a nice glass of red.

What are your favourite tunes to cook to?
My sister's mixed tape.

What do you think you'll learn from being on MasterChef?
The best thing about Masterchef is the opportunity to learn everything you can from the best in the business.

Which judge makes you the most nervous?
All of them!

Tell us about how you got into cooking and how old were you?
I learnt to cook based on the teachings of my two grandmothers from an early age. But it wasn't until I discovered the River Café Cook Book at the age of 17 that I really got into cooking. I've never looked back.

What's the first meal you remember cooking and was it a success or a disaster?
The first thing I remember cooking was a sponge cake with my Grandma. It was a success thanks to her skill.

What three ingredients would you take with you to a desert island and what would you cook with them?
Chilli, garlic and lime juice. With those three ingredients you could cook a delicious, freshly caught steamed fish with a chilli, garlic and citrus dressing.

If you were having any three people, alive or dead, over for dinner, who would they be and what would you cook for them?
Being apart from my family is probably the hardest thing about the MasterChef experience. So the 3 people I'd have for dinner would be my Mum, my Dad and sister. I'd cook them Gary's Beef Wellington.

What inspired you to go on MasterChef?
The thing that inspired me to go on MasterChef was my passion for cooking and my desire to make big changes in my life.
