Marae Investigates - Associate Producer
(Ngati Ranginui/Ngai te Rangi/Te Arawa)
Debra began her career as a cadet reporter in the Auckland Star
newspaper in 1980 after being inspired by the Lou Grant character
in the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show'. After four years, she joined TVNZ's
original Maori magazine programme 'Koha' beginning a television
broadcast career that saw her write, direct and produce stories
across the range - from drama to documentary, children's to comedy,
news and current affairs. For more than 10 years, Debra was
based in the Bay of Plenty, producing programmes, in English
and te reo Maori for Maori Television,
under her own company, Dreamfish Productions Ltd. She has also published stories and tutored journalism at the Waiariki Institute of Technology in Rotorua.
Recently returning to the TVNZ fold, Debra offers a guiding hand and experienced editorial eye to the Marae Investigates whanau.
