This touching BBC collection combines three one-off dramas revealing the extraordinary behind-the-scenes heartache and personal turmoils of three of Britains most celebrated comedy icons - comedy legend Frankie Howerd, Steptoe and Sons Harry H Corbett and Wilfrid Brambeland and Hughie Green, Britains first ever child star.

Frankie Howerd, Rather You Than Me: David Walliams stars as Frankie Howerd in this moving drama revealing Howerds fight with his inner demons. A celebrated icon of British comedy, Howerds thrice nays and titter ye not have been immortalised in the canon of comedy catch-phrases. But he was a man riddled with professional doubts, wracked with depression and conflicted by his homosexuality.

The Curse of Steptoe: In this touching tale of two incompatible men bound together by success, Jason Isaacs (The State Within) and Phil Davis (Five Days) appear as Harry H Corbett and Wilfrid Brambell the stars of the hit sitcom Steptoe and Son. Corbett and Brambells personal problems and antipathy for each other helped the show achieve its great success, yet neither of the men succeeded in escaping their inner complexities or each other.

Hughie Green, Most Sincerely: Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead) stars as Hughie Green, Britains first ever child star and avuncular front man of hugely successful family TV shows Opportunity Knocks and Double Your Money. But, behind the scenes, Green lived a very different life addicted to prescription drugs, alcohol and women. His professional rivalry with Stars On Sunday presenter Jess Yates and his serial womanising produced an explosive secret. This parable about the destructive power of success and celebrity is also an exploration of what family and fatherhood meant to this iconic character who was at the heart of the entertainment industry.
