About the show
Wednesdays at 9.30pm
For centuries, humans have searched the skies for signs of intelligent life...to no avail.
But what if the explanation lies in the fact that aliens were already here...already among us?
And what if all of the natural disasters the world has been experiencing of late were smokescreens designed to mask something far more ominous?
Dedicated U.S. Park Ranger Russell Varon (Eddie Cibrian - Third Watch) is a divorced father of two kids - Jesse (Evan Peters) and Rose (Ariel Gade - Dark Water) - and is expecting a third child with his new wife, local television reporter Larkin Groves (Lisa Sheridan). For Russell, who works with fellow Ranger Mona Gomez (Aisha Hinds), a devastating hurricane and its mysterious aftermath prove to be merely the beginning of a long journey into the unknown.
Always sceptical about the paranoid conspiracy theories of his wayward brother-in-law, Dave (Tyler Labine), Russell may have to revise his thinking when a number of bizarre occurrences start taking place in his community. Although Rose claims to have seen hundreds of lights floating towards the water during the storm, Russell initially dismisses her claim--until he begins to suspect that something is very wrong with his ex-wife, Dr. Mariel Underlay (Kari Matchett). The morning after the storm, Mariel is found naked in the water - with no memory of what transpired the night before.
As the tiny Everglades town of Homestead, Florida, struggles to rebuild itself, Sheriff Tom Underlay (William Fichtner - Go; The Longest Yard) - who is now married to Mariel and raising his daughter, Kira (Alexis Dziena) - suspiciously orders the entire area quarantined. Russell begins to investigate the strange goings on and unwittingly begins a fight for the survival of his family, his community, and what might ultimately be the human race.
Invasion was created by Shaun Cassidy, a veteran TV producer who was also behind the thoroughly awesome, though short-lived, early 90s cult series American Gothic.
You may also remember Cassidy as the younger of the Hardy Boys in the old TV show. Seriously. And he released a bunch of albums too. A real renaissance man, this guy.
