Wilson Dixon

Wilson Dixon - Saddle Sore

1)       How did you get the name of your show this year?
The show is called Wilson Dixon Saddle Sore. The first half is my name, so I guess I got my folks to thank for that. The second part is about being weary from years traveling around playing country music. It's not literally about having a sore rear from riding my horse, although I do ride him quite a bit when I'm home in Cripple Creek (and occasionally it chafes).

2)       Tell us your favourite punchline
I'm not really one for comedy or punchlines - I'm a country singer. That Bob Hope sometimes makes me laugh though.

3)       What's been your best heckle?
Someone once threw a burning chair at me.

4)       What was your response?
I let it burn. I was playing in a bar in Minnesota, and it was pretty cold

5)       What's the craziest thing you've ever bought on TradeMe?
What's Trademe? Some kind of self-enslavement organisation? I don't like the sound of that.

6)       Aside from yourself, who would you kill to see at this year's festival - and why?
Is anyone doing a Bob Hope retrospective? I'd see that for sure.

7)       What was the last film you watched?
A BBC documentary about Seasick Steve - an old American hobo bluesman who has recently found fame on the UK music festival circuit. The film follows him going back to Mississippi and visiting places and people from his past. It's inspirational.

8)       What was the one question you were glad you weren't asked on this questionnaire?
Something personal about my bathroom habits - like what I do with plughole hair. Lucky you didn't ask

9)       What's the one question we should have asked?
Where I keep all my gold
