Hunger For The Wild:
Steve Logan and Al Brown share a love for fishing, hunting and the
great outdoors. They also run one of the country's most successful
up-market restaurants, Logan Brown in downtown Wellington.
The pair trade the comfort of their restaurant for life on the road
as they head for the hills and chase down some of New Zealands
finest and freshest foods in a third series of their award-winning
adventure-cooking show Hunger for the Wild.
The show sees the boys travel the length of New Zealand from Ninety
Mile Beach in the Far North down to remote Stewart Island in the
South.
The boys stop off at some spectacular spots, and each
episode concludes with a meal cooked in a unique location.
Simple, fresh fare, accompanied by plenty of cooking tips and
food facts from Brown and Logan.
The meal is shared with those who helped gather the ingredients and
with it, a New Zealand wine, carefully chosen by Steve to
complement the flavours of the dish.
For Logan, the meal is a natural way to end each show, "It's a
chance for us to give back to the people who helped us; to sit
around a table of beautiful food; to talk about the hunt; and swap
stories. I love it, it's a big part of why we're in the
business."
He says they are meals that could only be produced in one country
and celebrates the very best of it, "our beautiful land, our fresh
produce and classic Kiwi characters."
The first series of Hunger for the Wild won the Air New Zealand
Screen Awards Best Factual Series in 2007.
