Every Friday we'll be sending out an e-mail listing the clips being played on Saturday's show. If you'd like to be on our mailing list all you have to do is e-mail us at hum@tvnz.co.nz (and put 'Rundown' in the subject line).

Hum lists

Throughout the series, we will be providing a series of music-related lists from New Zealand personalities. The latest is from local country band The Broken Heartbreakers, who tell us their Top Ten Country Music Moments.

We also have Dianne Swann's Memorable Musical Moments ; Francesca Rudkin's Most Memorable Concerts; Richard Bell's 5 Videos He's Glad He Worked On and David Kilgour's 10 Great Things About Nashville.

About the show

Presented by Francesca Rudkin, Hum is aimed at people who have an interest in music but find it hard to keep up with the ever-changing musical landscape.

Producer Michael Higgins says, "The show will be the equivalent of the dedicated music fan who compiles mix CDs for their friends - and a guide for people keen to hear new music but who don't know where to start when they walk into a record shop".

Every Saturday night Hum will present a capsule-sized instalment of the latest releases from the cutting edge of contemporary music - and some old favourites.

Hum will draw a lot of its music from the less mainstream end of the spectrum - and is targeted at an audience who know that they like acts such as REM, Goldenhorse and the White Stripes but who are also interested in other genres like alternative country and electronica.

The first series of Hum featured music from overseas acts including Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello and the Chemical Brothers, and locals Pluto, SJD, The Chills, Concord Dawn and Nathan Haines.

For a full rundown of all the videos played in the first season of Hum, click on the Hum's first season playlist link above on the right. It should give you an idea of what Hum is all about.

Once again Hum has received part of its funding from NZ On Air and local artists will provide half of the show's playlist.

And for this series, Hum will be recording live performances by a number of local acts, and showcasing them over the series.

Coming soon on the Hum page: artist and clip background information, competitions and more...stay tuned.
