Smoking ban in cars carrying kids backed

New research shows an overwhelming support for banning smoking in cars carrying young children.

Around 92% of respondents in a University of Otago survey supported a ban on smoking in cars which are carrying pre-school children.

The research author says second-hand smoke is a considerable health risk to children and legislation is needed to protect young New Zealanders.

Certain states and provinces in Australia, Canada and America have banned smoking in vehicles with children.
